Today I fished the Gallatin River, near the Gallatin Gateway. The water has cleared after last week’s rains, and the water level just a bit below average for this time of year.
There was a robust mid-morning trico hatch, and the fish were rising during the spinner fall. I had fun with a #22 trico spinner pattern, trailing a #14 parachute adams, used as a sighter.
The surface action lasted about an hour, but following that, a nymph pattern worked very well. A nice morning!
