Chris and I fished the Jackson Tailwater yesterday. The weather forecast was for sun and balmy January temps; unfortunately, it was cloudy and cool, and water temps remained in the low 40’s. A midge hatch never materialized, and no rising fish were seen. Streamers and nymphs were also unproductive. Only the Didymo was present in abundance, causing slippery wading. Can’t wait for spring!

Didymo is so abundant, it makes me wonder if midges can survive
